SynthesisVR Updater Detected As a Virus by Windows Defender
We have got multiple reports where the new “SynthesisVR Updater” tool brings false-positive virus alerts by Microsoft Defender. As result, Windows Defender wrongly put the updater executable under quarantine, braking the new update process.
We brought the case up to Microsoft and, after an additional verification, they excluded SynthesisVR Updater from their virus definitions.

We have removed the detection. Please follow the steps below to clear cached detection and obtain the latest malware definitions.
- Open command prompt as administrator and change directory to c:\Program Files\Windows Defender
- Run “MpCmdRun.exe -removedefinitions -dynamicsignatures”
- Run “MpCmdRun.exe -SignatureUpdate”
